One thing we know about Trump is that it’s never his fault. He didn’t get the nickname ‘Teflon Don’ for nothing! Marco Rubio is about to find out. And likely Elon Musk is being set up to find out as well, we’ll get to that too.
On Friday, before departing for his club in Bedminster, Trump spoke to reporters. For the second time that day, he spoke about the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 act used three times in US history, which Trump invoked last Saturday night.
So much has gone wrong for him in court since then! Trump and the whole MAGA infrastructure have been attacking U.S. District Judge James Boasberg. So much so, that we even had that rare occurrence of Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts stepping in. Despite the intense pressure and threats, Boasberg has persisted, and the Friday hearing was an absolute mess for Trump’s DOJ (we’ll get to that).
Asked about signing the controversial proclamation signed on March 15 invoking the Act, Trump told reporters that he didn’t sign it:
“I don’t know when it was signed, because I didn’t sign it. Other people handled it. But Marco Rubio’s done a great job. And he wanted them out, and we go along with that.”
Wait, what?
That’s weird. Because on Sunday, March 16, the morning AFTER the deportations had taken place, Secretary of State Rubio put out this statement:
Under the President’s direction, his administration invoked the Alien Enemies Act to initiate the removal of hundreds of dangerous members of Tren de Aragua (TdA), a vicious and violent Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), which has been threatening our nation, conducting irregular warfare, and terrorizing Americans.
(my emphasis added)
What happened?
